Garden Encouragement Day

A public event held at Testing Grounds, a patch of ground in the Melbourne CBD which had lain abandoned for the previous 30 years.

Participants used ‘health food’ items such as acai powder, bee pollen, seaweed, vitamins and beetroot juice, as well as brown paper, calico, fruits, nuts, vegetables, plants and other items to create ‘magical talismans’ that were then buried in the ground to encourage the garden.

Nasturtium and pea seeds as well as two rosebushes were planted above the talisman burial sites.
